“/ 12 cm.
Please note:
The shawl is worked from top to bottom, beg at the
center back. The arrow in the schematic indicates direction of work.
The diagonal direction of work makes it impossible to calculate the
size based on the gauge. For this reason, measurements were taken
on the original shawl.

Cast on 5 sts. Work in lace pattern, foll knitting chart
A. Beg with the sts before the center st, then work the center st, and
end with the sts after the center st. Work rows 1 – 20 once. Then rep

marked pattern repeat (PR), work the PR (= 6 sts) 3 times for the 1st
rep then work PR twice more for each further rep, work to the 2nd
marked PR (= 6 sts), rep this PR as for the 1st PR, and end with the
sts after the 2nd PR. Then work rows 69 – 72 once, beg with the sts
before the 1st marked PR, work the PR (= 6 sts) 13 times, work to
the 2nd marked PR (= 6 sts), rep this PR 13 times, and end with the
sts after the 2nd PR. When work measures 9“/23 cm = 72 rows from
cast-on, there are 105 sts on each side of center st = a total of 211
sts. Now work the edge lace foll knitting chart B. Beg with sts before
arrow a, rep PR (= 8 sts) between arrows a and b 12 times, then work
sts between arrows b and c once, rep PR (= 8 sts) between arrows c
and d,13 times, and end with sts after arrow d. After completing the
108th row = 13
