Samsung Flashing Tutorial.
Required: Powered Serial Cable (COM Port Cable)
Downloader Software for appropriate handset
Flash files for appropriate handset
The process using a serial cable is not fast and takes around 90 minutes for a
D600 for example.
For purposes of this tutorial we will use a Samsung D600 but the same
applies should you be flashing a E250 or D900 etc.
Make sure your handset Battery is fully charged!!
Connect 9V Battery to your flashing cable or power adapter.
Power off the phone with no SIM inserted and connect phone to cable and
cable to PC.
Select correct com port – Usually COM1.
COM speed should be 115200. Faster will not work!
Select the BIN + TFS radio button.
Select your binary file:
Press the BIN file button and choose the binary file you want to flash for
example "D600XAEJ4.cla" for a D600.
Press the TFS button and choose the TFS file you want to flash for example
"D600XAEJ4.tfs" for a D600.
Click Start.
Tap the power button on the phone when prompted. The phone should not
turn on, but software will recognise the ignition.
There will be some communications activity and then the phone will connect,
and the "Download" button will now be highlighted.
Click the download button and the flash download will begin.
Note: the entire flashing process takes approx 90 minutes for a D600 and you
must not stop the operation once started. Should you have say a power failure
half way through, don’t panic just repeat the procedure from the start!
Once flash has finished, press stop and disconnect the phone.
Your phone has been successfully flashed!
Take out and replace battery and power on
Occasionally after debranding a handset some models when powered up do
not display correctly, ie white screen, no graphics, only text.
Solution: insert a SIM card and power the phone up.
Press the menu key.
Move to bottom right (settings) and select it.
Select reset settings
Select all and then reset
Password is 00000000 (eight zero's)
If this does not work try using the code: *2767*3855#
You may need to get your GPRS and MMS settings after this procedure.
Important Note:
Some Samsung handsets are available in more than one version for
example D600 and D600E – These are NOT the same and they require
the correct flash files! A D600 flash filename will start D600XA but a
D600E filename will start D600EXA. Likewise the E250 and E250D require
their own files. Pretty obvious really but worth checking!!
The software used here was OneNAND Downloader this should be easy to
find using Google by searching for this plus your handset model number. It is
available for most Samsungs.
The serial cable sold for flashing Samsung phones should have a battery
connector on it. If it does not then you probably will not get much luck in
flashing your handset! Some cables come with a power adaptor that sits
between your PC and the data cable. If this is the case try using it!
